The makers of a new arthritis drug, Vioxx, say they have launched the same kind of breakthrough painkiller, Celebrex, to treat osteoarthritis.
Dr. Rizwan Turek, head of the arthritis department at the Cleveland Clinic and a co-founder of Vioxx, told NBC News on Monday that Celebrex is a breakthrough medicine. "If Celebrex is a breakthrough medicine, it can be marketed," he said. "Vioxx was just a matter of time before Celebrex came out."
Celebrex, originally developed as an arthritis drug to treat arthritis, has become a breakthrough medicine for millions of arthritis patients, many of whom can't tolerate the side effects of painkillers such as ibuprofen or aspirin. It's taken as a painkiller to help reduce stiffness and swelling.
The drug was developed in the 1980s by a group of researchers led by Dr. Robert Kors, a researcher at the University of California, San Francisco who has been involved with the company's research. But the drug was rejected by the Food and Drug Administration in 1999 because of side effects such as headaches, abdominal pain, and gastrointestinal bleeding. The FDA was also told in 2005 that there was no evidence that the drug had a serious effect on osteoarthritis.
The FDA had rejected Celebrex because of side effects such as gastrointestinal bleeding, stomach ulcers, and liver problems. However, Vioxx is now approved for use in the United States and Europe. The company said it is also pursuing a similar drug, Vioxx CR, to treat ulcerative colitis.
The company also recently announced it is developing a drug to help reduce the risk of stomach ulcers, but Vioxx CR hasn't yet made it to market.

Celebrex 200mg capsule contains the active ingredient Celecoxib. It belongs to the family known as non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAID), and specifically a sub-group known as cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) inhibitors. It is used in adults for the relief of signs and symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, and ankylosing spondylitis. In conditions like rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis, excess production of prostaglandins by your body can lead to pain and inflammation. Do not take Celebrex 200mg capsule if you are allergic to Celecoxib or any of its ingredients. Inform your doctor if you had reactions to sulfonamide medicines, suffer from ulcers or bleeding in the stomach or intestines, or experienced adverse reactions to NSAID medications like aspirin. Before starting the treatment, inform your doctor because it is recommended to not take this medicine if you are pregnant or are breastfeeding. Do not take this medicine if you have severe liver or kidney disease, have inflammatory intestinal conditions, or have heart-related issues such as heart failure, heart disease, or circulation problems. Inform your doctor about if you have a history of stomach or intestinal ulcers or bleeding (avoid if currently present), are on acetylsalicylic acid or antiplatelet therapies, use blood clotting or corticosteroid medications, or simultaneously use other non-acetylsalicylic NSAIDs like ibuprofen. Report your doctor if you have conditions such as smoking, diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, compromised heart, liver, or kidney function, fluid retention, dehydration, past severe allergic reactions to medications, ongoing infections, or are over 65 years old. Monitoring may be necessary. Notably, Celebrex 200mg capsule could mask fever or infection signs. Remember, alcohol combined with NSAIDs may increase gastrointestinal risks.

I'm going to write this on the back of my own computer. So far, I've just had some really good news. I'm having some good luck, and I'm doing some testing.
I know this might be a tough one to share but it's a great way to make sure I'm still on the right track. I've noticed that I'm not being able to sleep at all.
I had a blood pressure of 25 or so, and I had to take a blood pressure pill to treat my heart condition, as well as the pain of the heart's beating.
The good news, though, is that I've been on Celebrex for over a month now, which means I've been taking it. I'm hoping for a good long-term recovery, although it's not clear that I'm going to have to take it every day.
It's really important that I'm still able to sleep at all, and the pain is going to be a side effect of the Celebrex. I'm hoping for a better outcome, and I'll probably start to see some improvement within a month or two after starting the drug.
I'm hoping to get some good results with Celebrex, although I'm not sure that it's the right choice for me at this time.
As for the side effects, I'm still pretty upset that I'm not able to eat or sleep well enough to have my stomach full of food.
I've tried taking the capsule to help with the pain, but it's not helping much. I don't feel any of the pain, except for a slight headache that's a bit better.
I also feel like I'm going to have to take the pill every day, which is a big plus for me. I have been taking a daily dose of the capsule every day for quite some time, and I haven't had any problems that I've noticed with the Celebrex.
I'm not sure if I should take the Celebrex or just try to eat it, but I can definitely feel that it's helping. I'm hoping for better results, but I'm still not sure I can get the best out of it.
I'm really hoping that my blood pressure will get better, and I'm not sure if the pain will get better or not. I have a feeling that my blood pressure is going to get better but I'm not sure what's going to happen.
The good news is that I'm still on Celebrex, so it's good to get some good news for everyone involved in this.
